The House

foCo-When and why did you start doing photography?

foCo-¿Cuándo y por qué empezaste a hacer fotografía?

CYW-I started doing photography at my university.  I was invited to take photo of dancing performance, and at that time I fancied dancing very much. After that I was in love with photography.

CYW-Empecé haciendo fotografía en la universidad. Fui invitado a hacer fotografía de baile, lo cual disfrutaba mucho. Después de eso fue que me enamoré de la fotografía

foCo-How does the series “House” come up, what motivate you to do it?

foCo-¿Qué te motivó a realizar esta serie, cómo surge “House”?

CYW-’The House” came into my mind in a very hot summer afternoon. While I was staying at home alone, it was so hot that I took off all my clothes, jumping up and down, doing my stuff.  I suddenly realized that it would be very interesting to have some artwork on this – having fun in a secrete place, doing something different.

CYW-“The House” me vino a la mente durante una calurosa tarde de verano. Hacia tanto calor que mientras permanecía solo en casa me quite toda la ropa. Brincando y haciendo mis cosas me dí cuenta de que sería muy interesante hacer algo sobre esta experiencia; divertirse en un lugar secreto, haciendo algo diferente.

foCo-From where do your ideas originate for the construction of these images?

foCo-¿De dónde vienen las ideas para la construcción de estas imágenes?

CYW-My ideas comes from my life experience, say my art study at university, comics and movies that I enjoy so much, etc.  Sometimes the ideas just suddenly jump into my mind and I put them into my artworks.

CYW-Mis ideas vienen de mis experiencias de vida, por decir mis estudios de arte, los comics y de las películas que más disfruto. A veces, las ideas simplemente surgen de pronto en mi mente.

foCo-We see many elements in your pictures. What is the process you follow to make an image? Do you make a sketch before you build the image or you´re adding elements until its ready?

foCo-Vemos muchos elementos en tus imágenes, ¿Cómo es el proceso que sigues para realizar una imagen?, ¿Haces un boceto previo a contruir la imagen o vas añadiendo elementos hasta que está lista?

CYW-My main idea is to make people become part of their secret place, initially would like to have feelings of fantasy and fun, so the whole pictures look more cheerful and outgoing.  I used to have a rough idea in my mind before taking the pictures, and then prepare many little toys or other decorations beforehand so that I can use them at the scene.

CYW-La idea principal es hacer que la gente se adentre a su lugar secreto. Me interesa que se diviertan y se  involucren con la fantasía, así la fotografía en su conjunto parece más alegre y la gente más desenvuelta.  Normalmente antes de tomar la foto tengo una idea de cómo quiero la imagen, así de que preparo muchos juguetes pequeños y otras decoraciones para posteriormente incorporarlas a la escena.

foCo-Your work is very fun and full of fantasy. Why did you recourse to nude to represent a fantasy world and how it alludes to the erotic?

foCo-Tu obra es muy divertida y está llena de fantasía, ¿Por qué recurriste al desnudo para representar un mundo fantástico y de qué manera alude esto a lo erótico?

CYW-My House series would like to express the infinite possibility that people are free to do anything in their secrete garden.  So nude in a sense mean freedom, nothing to hinder their thinking or emotion,   goes back to state that people were just born, being naked, simple and naive. There is nothing related to erotics indeed.

CYW-En esta serie muestro la infinidad de cosas que la gente puede hacer en su lugar secreto. El desnudo significa libertad, significa que nada puede interferir con sus emociones ni con sus pensamientos, es regresar al momento del nacimiento, estar desnudo, simple e inocente. No hay nada relacionado con lo erótico.

foCo-In what projects are you working?

foCo-¿En qué proyectos estás trabajando?

CYW-I am now still concentrate on completing my House series, would like to add more elements into it.  And I am now thinking about another series of artwork which is related to my personal experience.  The details are still not yet available.  Also I would like to try to develop different aspects like underwater portrait photography and combing painting with photography.

CYW-Por ahora sigo enfocado en esta serie, me gustaría seguir trabajando en ella. He pensado en algunos proyectos que se relacionan con mis experiencias personales, los detalles aún no están disponibles; también quisiera desarrollar diferentes aspectos como retratos bajo el agua y combinar pintura con fotografía.
